In a decisive move to combat the escalating obesity crisis in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a nationwide campaign aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing excessive consumption of edible oils. Madhavan, singer Shreya Ghoshal, and philanthropist and Member of Parliament Sudha Murty. Each of these individuals has been tasked with further nominating ten more people, creating a cascading effect to broaden the movement's influence. Responding to his nomination, Omar Abdullah expressed his commitment to the cause, acknowledging the myriad health issues linked to obesity, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, strokes, respiratory problems, and mental health conditions like anxiety and depression. He promptly nominated ten additional personalities to join the campaign, including business leaders Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Sajjan Jindal, sports figures Deepika Padukone and Sania Mirza, and politicians like Supriya Sule.
