Lawyers do not want to work during the holidays, but the court would be convicted for pending cases: CJI Gawai

New Delhi
Justice BR Gawai, who took oath as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on 14 May, has made serious allegations against the lawyers on Wednesday, expressing concern over the pending cases in the Supreme Court. CJI Gawai has said that lawyers do not want to work during the holidays, but the court is convicted for pending cases. Explain that the back of Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice Augustine George Christ was enraged when a lawyer appealed to list the petition after the summer holidays.
Meanwhile, CJI Gawai said, "Five judges are sitting during the holidays and continue working, yet we are blamed for pending matters. Actually the lawyers do not want to work during the holidays." It is worth noting that recently the apex court has issued a notification under which the bench of the judges will also work during the upcoming summer vacation. The period, which runs from 26 May to 13 July, has been named as "Parselly Court Working Days".
Two to five vacation benches will sit during these partial court working days. At the same time, the top five judges of the Supreme Court, including the Chief Justice, will also set up courts during this period. From 26 May to 1 June, CJI Gavai, Suryakant, Justice Vikram Nath, Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice BV Nagratna will lead five benches respectively.
During this period, the registry of the apex court will be open for all officers and employees from 10 am to 5 pm. The registry will remain closed on all Saturdays (except July 12), Sunday and on public holidays. According to the previous practice, during the summer holiday, only two holidays used to be back and the courts of senior judges did not take place.
