State Government's big initiative: Special Committee constituted to check quality of materials provided in Anganwadi centers

The Chhattisgarh government has taken a tough stand on the complaints being given to children and women in Anganwadi centers of the state. Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade, taking serious cognizance in this regard, has ordered the formation of a special committee for investigation.

Keeping in view the reports in various newspapers and media, Minister Smt. Rajwade had directed the departmental secretary Smt. Shammi Abidi to immediately investigate and submit a detailed report. He clarified that it is our highest priority to ensure the quality of materials provided for children and women. No negligence or irregularity of any kind will be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.

In compliance with the instructions of the minister, Padum Singh Elma, the Director of Women and Child Development Department, has formed an expert committee for the quality check of the material distributed in Anganwadi centers in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Jashpur and Surguja districts.
In this committee, Joint Director (Finance), Directorate of Women and Child Development (Chairman), Managing Director, CSIDC. Representatives (members), Principal, GEC Raipur nominated by Representative (Technical Member), concerned District Program Officer (Member), Assistant Director, ICDS. The committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of checking the physical status and quality standards of the material. Also, instructions have been given to conduct scientific analysis by sending suspicious or testingable samples to recognized laboratories by the state government.
The purpose of this entire process is to ensure that the nutritional materials provided in Anganwadi centers are completely safe, quality and in line with standards. The inquiry committee has to submit its detailed report within 15 days, on the basis of which the department will ensure further action.
