Sindh province

Pakistan is surrounded by all -round difficulties at this time, where there is instability in Balochistan on one side, on the other side its Sindh province is also burning. People in Sindh are opposing the disputed six-canars projects. The protesters protesting against this project attacked and set fire to the residence located in Nausharo Feroz district of Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar and set fire.

The protesters vandalized the property and set the house items on fire.

The protesters targeted the minister's residence located in the city near the National Highway and also set two trailers standing nearby. During this time, two protesters were killed in a clash of police and protesters and more than a dozen people, including a DSP and six other policemen, were injured.

The issue of Cholistan Canal remains the main issue of dispute between Pakistan People's Party (PPP) -led Sindh government and Shahbaz Sharif government at the Center. The Shahbaz Sharif government of Pakistan was planning to construct six canals on the Indus River for irrigation of the Cholistan desert. But PPP and other political parties of Sindh province are opposing this project.

According to government sources, the estimated cost of the Cholistan canal system is Rs 211.4 billion and through this project, thousands of acres of barren land was to be converted into cultivable land. Under the project, there was a plan to cultivate 400,000 acres of land.

But there was a huge opposition to this project in Sindh which included political parties, religious organizations, activists and lawyers. Rallies and sit -in demonstrations were held across Sindh against the project.
In view of this, this project was rejected by the Common Interests Council (CCI) last month.

After the CCI meeting, a statement issued by the PMO of Pakistan said, "No new canal will be built between all provinces without mutual understanding and consensus ... The Center will not move forward on any plan until a comprehensive agreement is reached between the provinces."

Despite the CCI's decision, protests against the project continued in Sindh and the government urged the protesters to end it.

What did PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto say about the attack on the minister's residence?
